Saw an article on Baby Center on tips for taking pictures of your kids. They have some good advice, like not making your kids look at the camera. Someone had given me this advice before and I always get lots of compliments on pictures where I take this advice.
A couple things that aren’t in the article, that I heard a photographer say is that it is Ok to cut peoples heads off — meaning, if you are taking a close up picture of someone, it is OK to take the top of their head off (with the camera 
). This same photographer also told us if we ever like a picture, but not the colors or patterns in it (maybe everyone wasn’t matching) we should turn it into a black-and-white photo, and the patterns and colors won’t seem so strong.
